Google has denied allegations that it misled advertisers and violated its own rules regarding ad viewership on third-party websites. Adalytics, a third-party analytics company, claims that Google’s ads often appear on lower-quality websites and may lack audio or video content. They also suggest that some ads autoplay without viewer engagement and that skip buttons are sometimes hidden, forcing viewers to watch the entire ad. Adalytics reviewed over 1,100 brands’ ad campaigns and accused Google of conducting ad fraud, potentially costing brands billions in advertising dollars. However, Google has strongly rejected these claims.
