Meta has introduced new tools to its Family Center that allow parents to monitor and control their teenage children’s usage of Messenger. The tools enable parents to view their child’s app usage time, privacy and safety settings, and manage who can message and see their child’s content. Parents will also receive notifications for any changes made to their child’s contact list and privacy settings. These initial parental supervision tools will be available in the US, UK, and Canada, with plans for expansion to other regions. In addition, Meta is implementing features to remind teens about their Facebook usage and enhance parental controls on Instagram. The company is also introducing safety updates, such as Quiet Mode on Instagram, and testing new features to protect users from unwanted direct messages.
