iPhone owners who participated in Apple’s settlement for the “batterygate” lawsuit will soon receive their payments. The judge overseeing the case has rejected an appeal from two iPhone owners who objected to the settlement, allowing payments to proceed. In 2020, Apple agreed to pay $500 to settle the lawsuit, which alleged that the company secretly throttled older iPhone models. The lawsuit stemmed from a software update in 2017 that slowed down performance on devices with degraded batteries. iPhone owners who submitted a claim in 2020 will receive approximately $65 per claimant.
