Apple supplier LG has reportedly acquired several patents related to microLED display technology, which could be utilized in the production of the rumored next-generation Apple Watch Ultra. The purchased patents cover areas such as the transfer printing process in microLED, as well as touch control sensing, AR, VR, and HUD. LG’s move is seen as an effort to enhance the profitability of microLED production. The company is already constructing a production line to supply microLED displays to Apple. Previous reports suggested that the Apple Watch Ultra with microLED display could launch in the second half of 2025 or the first quarter of 2026.
