The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has partnered with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) to rearrange overhead power lines along Phetchaburi Road in an effort to improve the city’s environment. The city government and the MEA have decided to remove unused power lines along a 4-kilometer stretch of the road. The project is expected to be completed within a month. Additionally, the MEA plans to reorganize power lines in the capital city using geographic information system (GIS) technology and replace over 100,000 streetlights with LED bulbs. Telecommunication service providers will now need to officially notify the MEA before installing their cable lines on power poles.
