There is a scheduled program for the opening of the new parliamentary session at the Parliament Building on July 3rd at 5:00 PM. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who also signed the royal decree on Friday. The general election was held on May 14th, and this will be the first session of the newly elected parliament. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, along with the cabinet ministers, court president, heads of independent organizations, members of the parliament, and ambassadors will participate in the opening ceremony. The representatives will meet at 9:30 AM to elect the parliament speaker and deputy speaker. The Office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives stated that many representatives preferred to hold the meeting on July 4th, one day after the official opening, as they did not want to travel back and forth from different provinces.
