13-year-old Arisa Trew, an Olympic skateboarding hopeful from the Gold Coast, has become the first female athlete to land a 720 trick. Ranked 14th in the world, Trew successfully performed two mid-air rotations at the Tony Hawk Vert Alert competition. This maneuver was initially accomplished by skating legend Tony Hawk in 1985, but had not been replicated by a female skater in a competitive environment until Trew. Hawk himself was present to witness Trew’s achievement. Trew is now aiming to represent Australia in the skateboarding park team at the Paris Olympics next year.
