Video game staffers at Workinman Interactive have filed a petition to unionize under International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). The studio, based in Rochester, New York, creates interactive experiences for clients such as Nickelodeon, Disney, and Nintendo. The workers are seeking to address issues such as job insecurity, inadequate compensation, and a lack of collective representation in the industry. IATSE has filed a petition for representation election with the National Labor Relations Board. This move comes as IATSE has been organizing video game workers across the industry. IATSE is also working on organizing visual effects workers, including those at Disney’s Marvel.
