The TV show Everybody Loves Raymond, which aired from 1996 to 2005, is a beloved sitcom that follows the dysfunctional Barone family. However, when viewed in today’s context, the characters’ over-the-top and sometimes cruel behavior can be difficult to watch. Robert Barone, constantly picked on by his father and brother, experiences feelings of inferiority. Frank Barone treats everyone, especially his wife, poorly and lacks empathy. Despite these flaws, the show remained popular and garnered numerous nominations and awards. However, twenty years later, the show’s humor can make audiences cringe due to its open meanness and insensitive jokes. Additionally, the real-life deaths of cast members and tragic events surrounding the show add to its difficult viewing experience.
