Susan Sarandon will play the villainous businesswoman Victoria Kord in the upcoming live-action Blue Beetle film. Victoria likely staged a hostile takeover of Kord Industries from her brother, the former Blue Beetle. Her niece gives the Scarab to the new Blue Beetle for safekeeping to keep it out of Victoria’s hands. In the comics, Victoria has altruistic goals, but in the film, she appears to be a cold, ruthless businesswoman who wants to control the Scarab. Sarandon has described the character as representing imperialism in the name of democracy. It remains to be seen if Victoria will become an ally or enemy to the new Blue Beetle.
