Horror is an ever-evolving genre that goes beyond jump-scares and haunted houses. From the groundbreaking films Candyman and Scream in the 90s, to the more recent works of Jordan Peele, such as Get Out, horror has been pushing boundaries and exploring societal issues. The Blackening, directed by Tim Story, combines comedy, horror, and social commentary. It follows a group of Black friends who challenge horror movie stereotypes when confronted with a masked killer who asks them to rank their “Blackness” to determine who to kill first. The film is now available on demand and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD soon.
