Today, superhero franchises bring comic book heroes to life on screen with vibrant costumes, A-list talent, and amazing CGI. However, as these franchises delve deeper into comic book lore, they become more convoluted and distant for the average moviegoer. Prior to 2000, superhero films catered to public knowledge of characters and told straightforward narratives.
