The prequel to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion was a forgettable television film released in 2005 that served as a backdoor pilot for ABC, but was never picked up. The prequel follows Romy and Michele after they graduate high school in 1987 and dream of moving to Los Angeles to become backup dancers for Paula Abdul, but end up in jail for prostitution. The film has glaring problems, including a transphobic storyline and a script that feels all over the place. Despite the star-studded cast, the prequel is best left forgotten.
