The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 398 artists and executives to join its membership this year. Notable figures include singer-songwriters Taylor Swift and David Byrne, Netflix’s Bela Bajaria, and Nobel Prize-winning writer Kazuo Ishiguro. If all the invitations are accepted, the Academy’s membership will be 34% female, 18% nonwhite, and 20% non-American. The list of invitees includes 76 Oscar nominees, with 22 winners. The diverse group represents global talent across cinematic disciplines and has made significant contributions to the arts and sciences of motion pictures.
