Industry insiders are facing the possibility of an actors’ strike as negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and studios/streamers are extended until July 12. The union and studios/streamers have been in negotiations since June 7 over new three-year contracts. The union is seeking stronger member protections, higher wage floors, amplified streaming residuals, and more regulation in auditions. If an agreement is not reached by July 12, the union can call a strike, potentially crippling the industry alongside the ongoing writers’ strike. Some high-profile members have expressed concerns about settling too early.
