SAG-AFTRA will no longer offer interim agreements to projects covered by a Writers Guild of America contract produced in the U.S. The decision was made after productive meetings with the writers’ group, who are also on strike and not offering interim deals. This change is said to assist the WGA in executing their strike strategy without undermining SAG-AFTRA’s effectiveness. Interim agreements have been controversial, allowing production to continue on projects outside the jurisdiction of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Comedian Sarah Silverman has criticized these agreements as they may ultimately benefit AMPTP member companies.
