Houston rapper Big Pokey was laid to rest Sunday, a week after he collapsed onstage and died during a performance. The cause of death is still unknown. Big Pokey, whose real name was Milton Powell, was a founding member of the Screwed Up Click and known for his contribution to the “chopped and screwed” music style. His funeral was attended by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, and fellow rappers Paul Wall, Trae Tha Truth, and Slim Thug. Big Pokey’s legacy includes his debut album “The Hardest Pit in the Litter” and collaborations with Paul Wall and DJ Screw.
