He writes, directs, edits, and sometimes scores his own movies, blending genres and creating his own unique style of deadpan surrealism. His latest film, Yannick, is a blend of boulevard theater and arthouse cinema, with a simple yet twisted plot. While lacking a punchline or full denouement, the film is an entertaining ride with lively performances and clever one-liners. Overall, Dupieux’s films may be short, but they are never boring.
