Showtime has officially merged with Paramount+ in a push to expand Paramount Global’s streaming reach. This move integrates Showtime content, including popular series and sports, into the Paramount+ experience. Paramount+ currently has 60 million streaming subscribers worldwide. The decision to fully integrate Showtime into Paramount+ was based on consumer insights and data, with previous bundled subscribers watching more titles and spending more time on the platform. Paramount Streaming’s CEO stated that the merger solidifies Paramount+ as the ultimate streaming destination. While the Showtime linear TV channel remains available, it is set to be rebranded by the end of the year to include streaming content. The merger also led to cost-cutting measures, including layoffs and consolidation of studio teams.
