In the film “No Hard Feelings,” Jennifer Lawrence plays Maddie Barker, an Uber driver who loses her car and agrees to date the introverted Percy in order to afford her property taxes. As they grow closer, Maddie and Percy learn more about themselves and each other. The movie is a throwback to R-rated comedies with its dirty humor and also features a supporting cast that helps both characters discover their true selves. The overprotective parents of Percy, Laird and Allison, hire Maddie out of concern for their son’s future. Maddie’s best friend Sarah provides support throughout the movie. Maddie is a self-destructive but relatable protagonist, while Percy is a kind young man who just needs a push to believe in himself.
