Netflix is actively developing a sequel to its live-action adaptation of the popular anime/manga series, City Hunter, following the original film’s successful debut on the Global Top 10. Despite mixed reviews (59% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics versus 80% from audiences), the film’s international appeal and audience satisfaction have led Netflix to greenlight City Hunter 2. The sequel, set to premiere worldwide in 2027, will feature returning cast members Ryohei Suzuki, Misato Morita, and Fumino Kimura. Directed by Keiichiro Shiraki, it promises to expand on the story rather than repeat the first film’s approach.
