The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is preparing for its 23rd edition, showcasing new films from Central Europe and beyond. According to Karel Och, the festival’s artistic director, the event has grown in importance and now features two competitions packed with world premieres, as well as screenings of films from other festivals. Och explained that the festival aims to attract both audiences and industry professionals, and its programming lineup offers a mix of new and past films. The festival has also expanded its focus to include submissions from around the world, opening the Proxima competition to filmmakers worldwide. Och emphasized that the festival aims to have as few restrictions as possible, while still adhering to international film festival regulations.
