Despite the lack of films focusing on the intersex experience, director Julie Cohen aims to fill that void with her documentary Every Body. The film explores the lives of three intersex activists, highlighting the challenges they faced growing up in a world that often ignores their existence. While the film addresses the activists’ trauma, it also celebrates their triumphs and showcases them as fully realized individuals. Every Body also sheds light on the progress being made in intersex care while acknowledging that there is still work to be done. Although the film has a few distracting creative choices, it is a necessary and empowering addition to the queer documentary genre.
