Showtime has canceled its planned Gattaca series, which was meant to be a sequel to the original film. The decision is not surprising as the network has been scrapping shows under its new leadership and reviewing its programming. Sony Pictures Television, the producer of the series, is now looking to shop the project elsewhere. This comes as Showtime implements a new content strategy, focusing on investing in intellectual property it owns rather than licensed content. The network has had multiple cancellations recently, including I Love That For You and American Gigolo.
