Chris McCarthy, the head of Showtime, has passed on four projects as part of his effort to slim down the network’s content pipeline. The projects include the reboot of Gattaca, the comedy series Seasoned inspired by the lives of Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, and two projects in development – Split and Sweetness. Sony Pictures Television, the producer of Gattaca and Sweetness, plans to shop both projects elsewhere. McCarthy’s focus for Showtime is investing in intellectual property that the network owns and creating multiple-series franchises.
