More than 10 million DirecTV subscribers have lost access to local TV stations owned by Nexstar following a failed deal negotiation. Nexstar, which owns 159 TV stations across the US, including affiliates for major broadcast networks, The CW, and NewsNation, went dark on DirecTV and its streaming product DirecTV Stream. Nexstar warned that subscribers may miss the MLB All Star Game and Women’s World Cup due to the dispute. DirecTV accused Nexstar of demanding price increases and wanting to include “low-rated channels” in its lineup. The companies have had prior carriage disputes.
