The DCEU has had a rough start with films like Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Wonder Woman 1984. Suicide Squad lacked a solid reason for the team’s mission and struggled with tone and storytelling. Batman v Superman suffered from convoluted storytelling and failed to depict its heroes as true heroes. Justice League fell short in coherence and identity, relying on a rush job to introduce new characters. Wonder Woman 1984 had its strengths, but was smothered by poor screenwriting. Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. is trying to find its own path in the superhero genre, separate from Marvel.
