In November 2020, Cher successfully relocated an Asian elephant named Kaavan from Islamabad zoo to a sanctuary in Cambodia. Now, she is focusing her efforts on another captive elephant, Billy, who has spent nearly his entire life in the Los Angeles Zoo. Cher is urging people to reach out to the L.A. City Council to advocate for Billy’s release into a sanctuary. Cher is also concerned about the well-being of other captive animals, particularly Lucy, an elephant in Canada, and Lolita, a whale in Florida. Alongside her animal advocacy work, Cher has recently launched a gelato brand called Cherlato.
