Masterpiece PBS is set to remake Alexandre Dumas’ classic revenge tale, The Count of Monte Cristo, featuring Sam Claflin as Edmond Dantès and Jeremy Irons in key roles. Directed by Bille August, the eight-episode series follows Dantès, who is wrongfully imprisoned before escaping and seeking vengeance on those who betrayed him. The show will stream from March 1, 2026, on PBS Passport and PBS Masterpiece via Prime Video. This adaptation joins the legacy of over two dozen previous iterations. Additionally, Regé-Jean Page is set to star in another upcoming adaptation of the same tale.
