Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), has amassed over 153 million followers on the platform. However, a review of data collected by Travis Brown, a third-party researcher, raises concerns about the authenticity and activity of Musk’s followers. The data shows that a significant portion of his followers are inactive, with many having zero or very few followers and tweets. Additionally, characteristics such as default profile images, auto-generated usernames, and a lack of engagement with other users further suggest the presence of fake or inactive accounts. Only a small percentage of Musk’s followers subscribe to X Premium, his paid subscription service. These findings raise questions about the overall user base and engagement on X.
