The 2023 New York Film Festival’s Spotlight section lineup has been announced, featuring world premieres of Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s Showtime series The Curse starring Emma Stone, and Garth Davis’ Foe starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal. Other highlights include Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, and Harmony Korine’s Aggro Drift. Stone will also screen her silent black-and-white short film Bleat, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, accompanied by live music. The festival will showcase documentaries such as Steve McQueen’s Occupied City and Errol Morris’ The Pigeon Tunnel. The event will run from Sept. 29-Oct. 15.
