On a Friday afternoon in August, the lobby of a new apartment complex in Hollywood is bustling. The Cicely Tyson Residential Building, named after the late icon, is home to 151 apartments exclusively for artists and their families. The $135 million development is part of the Entertainment Community Fund’s initiative to create a hub for artists and low-income residents. The project includes a performing arts theater, a home for L.A. Contemporary Exhibitions, a young filmmakers program, and a training center. The John Gore Organization’s chairman and CEO, John Gore, is donating $5 million to name the arts center after Rita Moreno.
