Google is testing a new feature for its generative AI in search that will compete with Microsoft’s AI Copilot in Edge. The feature, called “SGE while browsing,” generates key points of long-form content found on the web, making it easier to digest complex topics. The tool is only available for free web pages and cannot generate key points for paywalled articles. Additionally, Google is improving its AI-generated responses for STEM, economics, history, and other topics, providing definitions and related diagrams or images when hovering over certain words. Lastly, Google has added new capabilities to SGE to help programmers understand and debug the codes it generates.
