Older-skewing franchises often have slow starts at the box office but can still end up with high worldwide grosses. The fifth Indiana Jones film, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” had a disappointing domestic debut, earning an estimated $60 million in its three-day opening weekend. This falls short of the $100 million debut of the previous installment, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” 15 years ago. The movie will need to have a remarkable comeback to be considered a success, especially since it’s the last time Harrison Ford will play the iconic character.
