The Thai State Railway (SRT) is planning to relocate its locomotive maintenance and production facilities to a location closer to Bangkok, within a distance of 200 kilometers. The move is motivated by the transformation of their current premises in Makkasan into a mixed-use space. The SRT has enlisted the services of the KUSIP joint venture to plan the relocation. Two potential sites have been shortlisted, one in Sattahip district and the other in Suphan Buri station. The board is considering factors such as local opinions, cost of relocating staff, and potential commercial opportunities of the site. The SRT land in Chong Kae Station and Lam Narai Station are also being considered.
