President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmuang, has decided to step down following the poor performance of the Thai national soccer team at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. The decision comes after a request from the chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand (NOCT), Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, who expressed concern over the team’s performance and a brawl that occurred during the match against Indonesia. Somyot has agreed to inform the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), and FIFA of his resignation.
