A second Thai elephant, given to Sri Lanka as a “goodwill ambassador” by Thailand 22 years ago, has been found and is doing well. Thai officials located Sri Narong at the Kiri Vihara Temple in the Kataragamm region. The elephant was about to participate in a religious procession when it was found. The Sri Lankan mahout informed Thai officials that Sri Narong is only used for religious processions a few times a year, unlike another Thai elephant, Sak Surin, which took part in over 30 events annually. The Thai officials donated bananas, watermelons, and sugarcane for the elephants.
