Nestled in northeastern Thailand, Kalasin is among the cities that boast both natural beauty and cultural heritage. As a National Geography Journalist, I was intrigued by this city’s charm and decided to explore it firsthand. Here is my experience and analysis of this hidden gem.
The scenery of Kalasin comprises of vast expanses of lush greenery and captivating scenic beauty. The city features vibrant agricultural farmlands, mountains, forests, and streams, making it a perfect destination for nature enthusiasts. Moreover, the architectural marvels, such as the Phra That Yakhu and the Kalasin National Museum, add to this city’s overall charm. What I liked about the city was the locals’ warmth and friendliness towards visitors, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the extreme heat and humidity, especially during the summer, were a downside to my experience.
Regarding the cost of living, Kalasin is affordable for both tourists and locals. The average cost of living for a day falls around 30-40 USD, which includes accommodation, food, transportation, and entertainment.
