The United States has flown nuclear-capable bombers to the Korean Peninsula as a show of force against North Korea. The B-52 bombers took part in joint aerial drills with U.S. and South Korean fighter jets. This deployment follows North Korea’s massive anti-U.S. rallies and their push to expand their nuclear arsenal. The South Korean Defense Ministry stated that this deployment enhances the visibility of U.S. strategic assets in the region and demonstrates the allies’ resolve to strengthen defense postures. North Korea has carried out over 100 missile tests since the start of 2022, and the U.S. deployments could prompt further weapons tests.
