The stars of Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, including Lana Condor, Jane Fonda, Annie Murphy, Liza Koshy, and Jaboukie Young-White, attended the Los Angeles premiere of their DreamWorks film. This was the first time some of the actors had met due to the nature of voice work. Fonda, who is new to voice acting, expressed her excitement about finally meeting her co-stars. The film follows a high school student who discovers she’s a descendant of warrior kraken queens. The focus on krakens as villains provides a different perspective from the usual portrayal of mermaids. Executive producer Mike Mitchell jokes that mermaids are the “mean girls of the ocean.”
