Photo Courtesy of Freepik The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is focusing on attracting Asian expatriates, particularly Chinese nationals residing in Cambodia and Laos, to boost the Thai tourism industry. TAT aims to tap into the growing wealth of these expatriates, who often choose Thailand for their children’s education and frequently cross the border to acquire goods and services. The opening of the China-Laos high-speed rail has also provided transportation opportunities, allowing Thailand to anticipate more tourists from northeastern China. The suggestion of a visa waiver for Chinese tourists using specific land borders is being considered to further encourage tourism.
