Sometimes baseball teams look for small advantages to gain an edge in the game. Major League Baseball has been implementing changes to keep the sport exciting, such as the use of pitch clocks and anti-sign stealing technology. Now, MLB has partnered with Uplift Labs to bring movement tracking technology to the minors. Uplift Labs offers mobile 3D motion capture using iPhones, iPads, and tripods, replacing expensive camera setups. The technology will be used in player evaluation and scouting during drafts. Uplift’s CEO, Sukemasa Kabayama, believes this technology will help teams make informed decisions and maximize player performance.
