Cambodian leader Hun Sen has announced that he will stop posting on Facebook following the platform’s decision to remove one of his videos containing “unequivocal statements of intent to commit violence” against political opponents. The move comes just days before he launches his re-election campaign. Hun Sen will now use the Telegram app to communicate with supporters and engage with youth on TikTok. His Facebook page, which remains online, has faced allegations of having fake followers. The decision to withdraw from Facebook coincides with Meta’s Oversight Board recommending a six-month suspension of Hun Sen’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Meta has stated it will comply with the decision.
