After more than a decade of development, Virgin Galactic has successfully completed its first commercial flight, reaching an altitude of around 52 miles. The Italian government was the first client, conducting microgravity research with a team of professionals and a payload specialist on board. Prior to this milestone, Virgin Galactic faced setbacks, including a fatal crash in 2014. The company’s main competitor in suborbital tourism, Blue Origin, claims to offer a more genuine spaceflight experience. Meanwhile, SpaceX provides a different experience by taking customers into true orbit. This crucial launch is expected to significantly impact Virgin Galactic’s financial performance.
