The Karlovy Vary international film festival in the Czech Republic is returning this year after a hiatus due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last year, the festival showed its support for Ukraine by featuring works-in-progress from Ukrainian filmmakers. This year, the focus is less on politics and more on cinema, with star-studded attendees such as Alicia Vikander and Russell Crowe. The festival will also showcase films from Iran, including a section dedicated to independent Iranian cinema. Additionally, a new solidarity fund for Ukrainian features has been announced, providing development and completion funds.
