Taiwanese media outlets have reported that a Taiwanese couple, Chen Chih-Tsan and Liu Mei-Hsueh, who had been on the run for over two decades, were apprehended by Thai immigration officers upon their entry into Thailand. The couple, along with 12 accomplices, orchestrated a fraudulent scheme that defrauded victims in Taiwan of more than THB 4 billion (USD 114 million). They had established a company named Lien-chin-wen, claiming it to be a subsidiary of the global financial institution, Richmond, which attracted numerous investors. The couple managed to obtain Belizean citizenship and passports, changed their identities, and settled in Belize. They entered Thailand in 2018 but were later arrested when Thai authorities discovered their true identities. The couple had a luxury condominium worth 15 million baht and 2 million baht in cash in bank accounts.
