Popular third-party Reddit app Apollo has updated its features, giving users the option to decline a refund for their remaining subscription time. The app’s developer, Christian Selig, estimates that these refunds could cost him around $250,000, and urges users to consider declining the refund in order to support him financially. However, Selig also announced that Apollo will shut down on June 30 due to Reddit’s decision to begin charging expensive fees for its main API. This move has sparked controversy, with thousands of subreddits being marked as private or restricted in protest. Apollo has been praised for its design and adherence to Apple’s guidelines.
