Kraven the Hunter, also known as Sergei Kravinoff, is making his live-action debut in Sony’s first R-rated Marvel movie in October. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and directed by J.C. Chandor, the film depicts Kraven as an implied anti-hero, which deviates from his comic book origins. In the recently released trailer, Kraven gets his powers after being bitten by a lion, a departure from the herbal potions he acquires in the comics. The film is unlikely to feature Spider-Man, despite the potential for a surprise appearance. Sony’s Spider-Man universe is expanding with various villain solo films, but the absence of Spider-Man is seen as a disappointment.
