Today, the Criminal Court dismissed a defamation case filed by the Move Forward Party (MFP) against Warong Dechgitvigrom, the leader of the Thai Pakdee Party. The court ruled that Warong’s critique, made through media interviews and Facebook posts, was within his rights and protected by the Constitution. MFP accused Warong of defaming their reputation by falsely alleging that they supported protest groups aiming to overthrow the royal institution. The plaintiff sought 24 million baht in compensation and requested an order forbidding Warong from engaging in activities that could harm MFP’s reputation. Warong celebrated the court’s decision, stating he had made honest criticisms to protect the institution.
