In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s portrayal of Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was short-lived, which is a shame considering the character’s importance in Marvel Comics. Quicksilver, the twin brother of The Scarlet Witch, possesses superhuman speed, stamina, and the ability to manipulate forces of nature and time. While Quicksilver’s underutilization served Wanda’s story arc, it feels like a missed opportunity to fully explore this iconic speedster. The MCU’s handling of speedster characters has been inconsistent, and even WandaVision’s introduction of Evan Peters as Quicksilver turned out to be a ruse. The chances to bring back Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were squandered, leaving fans disappointed.
